The 40 year old has claimed that he called the airline weeks in advance to notify them of his disability and so they could make the appropriate arrangements for him. He told them he would need an aisle chair to get him to his seat and a lift to get on the plane.

“We are appalled by the treatment of Mr. Kanaan by Delta Air Lines, and this is not the first instance of misconduct by Delta Air Lines towards disabled people, and we hope in Mr. Kanaan’s case, he can be vindicated in court,” said Brian Brazier, one of Kanaan’s attorneys.

Delta hasn’t commented on the incidents because of the pending court case, but included in Kanaan’s claim is an accusation that Delta has had trouble accomodating customers before.

“Just a year before, Delta received no less than 5,000 complaints against it and was ordered to pay record breaking fines for its persistent ‘egregious’ mistreatment of disabled passengers,” the paperwork states.

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — Delta Airlines plans to start running an hourly shuttle service between San Francisco and Los Angeles starting September 3, 2013. The move will mean 14 new flights per day between SFO and LAX, and is intended to cater to business travelers according to San Francisco-based travel blogger, Chris McGinnis.

“What Delta’s after is the person who’s willing to pay $200 for a one-way ticket at the very last minute,” McGinnis told Consumerwatch.

The service will also include perks not available on standard flights, like check-in as late as 30 minutes prior to departure and gates located near airport security checkpoints.

The shuttle will add flights to the already saturated market between Northern and Southern California. There are dozens of flights most days. But McGinnis doesn’t believe Delta’s move will drive down prices. He says they’re already pretty low, between $100 and $150 when purchased months in advance. “This is aimed squarely at business travelers,” he said.
